Middleham is a picturesque & historic town situated in beautiful Wensleydale, just two miles from the market town of Leyburn.

Steeped in history, from the Romans who first settled here, to Medieval times when Richard 111 lived at the magnificent castle & Middleham became the Windsor of the North, through to Georgian times when most of the beautiful houses that line the two market squares were built.

The growth of horse racing also began during this period & which has become a vibrant & thriving industry that today stables & trains over five hundred horses in the town.

Today Middleham is a great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales from, it has four public houses, tea rooms, shops & the castle is a not-to-be- missed visit, also the numerous racing stables have open days & every year Middleham has a Richard 111 weekend with Medieval themed events & activities.
